What to expect
The work within an EFT session involves finding a focal point where physical or emotional stress is centered or where limitation is anchored, and using that as a starting point for facilitating change. However, while EFT is "aimed" at emotional contributors to stress, it is quite
possible to do EFT when the source of stress is not apparent and/or without verbal sharing of specific details. This is not "talk therapy."
During the EFT tapping process, when "stuck" feelings are released there is most often a sense of relief and greater relaxation, and often of clarity and new perspective regarding a situation or circumstance. Easing or release of physical tension or distress is also common. Emotional intensity can arise during an EFT session; this usually subsides rather quickly and easily with continued tapping.
Progress with EFT often happens with greater speed than might have seemed possible, but persistence in the fact of less than immediate results is very important. This is especially true when the issue being addressed is complex, with many different aspects.
You will learn to use EFT to support your progress on your own, and will be able to do so following your first session. Continued session work will strengthen your ability to apply EFT more effectively on your own as you learn more about its application.
What will be expected of you
EFT work actively engages the person experiencing it. EFT by itself will not change whatever it is that you would like to change in your life, any more than a hoe left leaning against the garage wall will loosen the soil in your garden. But should you choose to use EFT purposefully you will have an extremely efficient tool in your hands.
EFT
is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. If you have
concerns about possible illness or injury, psychological or physical, you
are advised to consult with your health care practitioners. If that is the case, though, what
EFT can do is help relieve the stress and
tension of dealing with illness or injury, which can help support your body’s
ability to heal itself.
You are responsible for your journey, for setting your goals for EFT work and for communicating them. We will talk about what you would like to accomplish, and about your perceptions of EFT and your expectations of our work together. If changes in your goals arise as we work, it will again be important for you to communicate this to me.
If you choose to incorporate EFT as part of your journey in life I hope it will be as exciting for you as it has been for me and for thousands of others. Every step of your walk in life is uniquely your own, though, and this will be true of your experiences with EFT, if you choose to explore this remarkable technique.
